Check-in time begins at 2:00 pm.
You’ll arrive at the Lake Powhatan gatehouse and be greeted by the gatehouse attendant who will provide directions to your reserved glamping site. Guests will receive a campground map, rules, comment card for feedback, as well as educational materials about the area for use during their stay.
Within the first hour of arrival, you’ll be greeted by a glamping host who will perform a walk-through of the tent and provide an overview of site amenities. The host will give instructions for linen service, battery charging and other general needs, and will be available for questions. Curious about the best hikes or biking trails, or things to do in downtown Asheville? Your host is happy to point you in the right direction based on your interests—breweries, restaurants, nightlife, art, music, and all kinds of in-town activities.
Guests receive one complementary bundle of firewood and a cooler stocked with one bag of ice for the first night of their stay. Additional wood and ice can be purchased from the gatehouse at the entrance of the campground for $6.00 and $3.00 respectively.
People come to the mountains for so many reasons: a spiritual connection with nature, a relaxing getaway, an outdoor adventure, and so much more. Our mountains are unique because they provide all this, plus the convenience of downtown Asheville, for those who choose to venture out. While you’re with us, though, please enjoy the features and amenities at each Lake Powhatan Glamping site—they’re designed to help you feel welcomed and at home in the beautiful outdoors:
One weatherproof 12’ x 16’ canvas wall platform tent accommodating up to 4 guests
One queen bed with linens (sheets, comforter, pillows)
A foldable cot with additional floorspace for sleeping bags or air mattresses (sheets not provided). The cot can be stored under the bed when not in use.
A bedside table
A 4-cup coffee maker with filters and coffee provided (or feel free to bring your own favorite blend!)
One luggage rack for personal clothing storage
One fan plus large windows with bug screens
Front porch with chairs
One parking space beside the tent
A picnic table and fire ring with grill
Capabilities for both AC and USB charging of personal electronics
One Coleman® 54 Quart Steel Belted® Cooler—It’s large enough to hold 85 cans and tall enough to hold 2-liter bottles upright; you'll have plenty of space for refreshments for your entire party.
Bathroom facilities are shared with the Lake Powhatan Campground and include hot showers
Pets are welcome—dogs must be leashed
Prepare for your Trip
The great thing about glamping is that you can bring everything or nothing! Each glamping tent at Lake Powhatan comes with comfortable bedding (sheets, comforter and pillow for the Queen bed); a fan or heater helps keep the temp just right; and there's even a cooler on site to chill food and beverages for the duration of your visit. Need your Cup-o-Joe? We’ve got that covered, too. If you choose to pack light, we fully support it! But if you'd rather bring everything under the sun, here are some items to consider.
